Erasmus Mundus Euroculture Scholarship 2027: How to Study in Europe Fully Funded
Applications are now open for the Erasmus Mundus Euroculture Scholarship 2027–2029. International students, including eligible applicants from Nigeria and other African countries, can compete for a fully funded two-year master's degree in Europe.
For many talented African graduates, the cost of international education remains a major obstacle. Tuition fees, accommodation, travel and everyday living expenses can make studying abroad seem impossible.
The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Euroculture programme offers a valuable opportunity to pursue postgraduate education across European universities with financial support from the European Union.
If you are interested in international relations, culture, politics, history, European studies or related fields, this scholarship deserves your attention.
In this guide, Beeva Pathways explains the funding, eligibility requirements, application process and practical ways to strengthen your chances of selection.
1. What Is the Erasmus Mundus Euroculture Scholarship?
Euroculture is a two-year, international master's programme focused on European society, politics and culture in a global context.
The programme brings together participating European universities, allowing students to experience different academic environments and explore issues such as identity, democracy, international relations, cultural diversity and social change.
Students undertake an interdisciplinary curriculum, international mobility and an academic or professional placement.
The Erasmus Mundus scholarship is funded through the European Union's Erasmus+ programme and awarded competitively to eligible candidates.
The 2027–2029 intake has confirmed Erasmus Mundus scholarship funding.
2. What Does the Scholarship Cover?
Successful Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients receive:
- A monthly allowance of €1,400 for 24 months.
- A total monthly allowance of €33,600 across the two-year programme.
- A full waiver of programme tuition and participation fees.
- Health insurance during the programme.
The monthly allowance is intended to support living and mobility-related expenses.
Students should still budget carefully for accommodation deposits, visa-related costs, initial travel and other expenses that may arise before their scholarship payments become available.
Do not assume that every personal expense will be paid separately by the university.
3. Who Can Apply?
Applicants from Nigeria and many other African countries can apply, subject to meeting the programme's academic and administrative requirements.
To qualify for scholarship consideration, you must:
- Hold a recognised bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification by the scholarship application deadline.
- Have an academic background relevant to the Euroculture programme.
- Meet the programme's English-language requirements or qualify for an accepted exemption.
- Submit a complete online application by 15 January 2027.
- Provide all required supporting documents and referee details.
- Meet the programme's Erasmus Mundus scholarship eligibility conditions.
- Be able to obtain the necessary visas or residence permissions to study at your assigned universities.
Applicants who previously received certain Erasmus Mundus Joint Master or related EU-funded scholarships may be ineligible for another Erasmus Mundus award.
You must also satisfy the programme's restrictions on receiving overlapping EU grants.
4. Which Academic Backgrounds Are Suitable?
Euroculture particularly welcomes applicants with relevant degrees in the arts, humanities and social sciences.
Examples include:
- International Relations
- Political Science
- History
- Sociology
- Cultural Studies
- European Studies
- Anthropology
- Philosophy
- Literature
- Communication and Media Studies
- International or European Law
- Theology
Applicants from other disciplines are not automatically excluded. However, they must demonstrate how their academic preparation, professional experience and interests connect to the programme.
For example, someone with experience in community development, international education, cultural organisations or public policy may be able to demonstrate relevant competencies even if their first degree is in another subject.
A convincing explanation of academic fit is essential.
5. English-Language Requirements
Euroculture requires evidence of English-language proficiency.
Its published requirements include:
- IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, with writing at least 6.0 and the other assessed components at least 5.5.
- TOEFL iBT: minimum 92 under the published scoring requirements.
- Accepted Cambridge English qualifications at the required level.
Some applicants may qualify for an English-test exemption, including those who completed an eligible English-taught bachelor's degree.
If you studied in Nigeria or another English-speaking country, do not automatically assume that you must take IELTS.
Check the official exemption rules and obtain a formal English-medium instruction statement from your university where required.
6. Documents Required for Application
Prepare the following before starting:
- Bachelor's degree certificate or officially accepted proof of graduation.
- Complete academic transcripts.
- Curriculum vitae.
- Motivation statement explaining your interest in Euroculture.
- Accepted English-language test results or exemption evidence.
- Required academic writing sample or research-related material, where specified in the current application checklist.
- Relevant additional supporting documents requested by the programme.
- Contact details for two referees.
At least one referee must be an academic referee. The second may be academic or professional.
For the 2027–2029 application process, referees are contacted directly and asked to complete an assessment questionnaire. Applicants are not required to upload traditional signed reference letters as part of that process.
Your referees must respond within two working weeks of your application submission, so contact them before submitting.
Check the official document checklist for the required formats, sizes and any additional documents.
7. How to Apply: Step by Step
Step 1: Visit the official Euroculture website
Open the programme's application procedure page:
https://www.euroculturemaster.eu/application-procedure
Read the admission requirements and scholarship conditions carefully.
Step 2: Confirm that your qualifications are relevant
Compare your previous degree, academic subjects and professional experience with the Euroculture curriculum.
Step 3: Prepare your documents
Gather your academic records, graduation evidence, CV, motivation statement and English-language documentation.
Step 4: Contact two referees
Choose people who know your academic or professional abilities and can provide detailed assessments of your potential.
Confirm that they will be available to respond promptly.
Step 5: Create an online application account
Access the Euroculture Online Application Tool through the official website.
Complete the required personal, academic and programme information.
Step 6: Upload your documents
Follow the upload requirements carefully. Ensure that your files are readable, complete and correctly labelled.
Step 7: Submit by 15 January 2027
Scholarship candidates must submit their complete application before the deadline.
There is no separate Erasmus Mundus scholarship form for Euroculture. Eligible applications submitted by the scholarship deadline are considered through the programme's selection process.
Step 8: Prepare for a possible interview
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an online interview lasting approximately 10 minutes.
Be prepared to explain your academic interests, motivation, previous experience and suitability for an international learning environment.
Step 9: Await the outcome
Scholarship decisions are expected by the end of March 2027.
8. Seven Ways to Improve Your Chances of Winning
1. Show a strong connection to the programme.
Do not submit a generic scholarship essay. Explain exactly why Euroculture's focus on society, politics, culture and international perspectives matches your academic or career goals.
2. Demonstrate international awareness.
Use real examples showing your understanding of cultural diversity, social change, international cooperation or global challenges.
3. Provide evidence of academic ability.
Strong grades help, but also explain relevant coursework, research projects, dissertations and analytical skills.
4. Write a convincing motivation statement.
Describe your educational background, the experiences that shaped your interests, why you want to study across European institutions and what you hope to accomplish after graduation.
5. Select strong referees.
Choose referees who can discuss your intellectual curiosity, work ethic, critical thinking, teamwork and capacity to succeed in a multicultural environment.
6. Prepare for the interview.
Practise explaining your academic journey, programme choice, international interests and future plans clearly and confidently.
7. Submit early and accurately.
Allow sufficient time for document preparation, technical issues and referee responses.
A complete, carefully prepared application is more competitive than a rushed submission.
9. Common Mistakes to Avoid
Avoid these mistakes:
- Applying without checking whether your degree is relevant.
- Assuming every Erasmus Mundus master's programme has identical requirements.
- Missing the scholarship deadline.
- Submitting an incomplete application.
- Choosing referees who cannot respond promptly.
- Providing weak or generic motivation statements.
- Assuming that English-language exemptions apply automatically.
- Confusing the later self-funded application deadlines with the scholarship deadline.
Most importantly, do not pay anyone who claims they can guarantee an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
10. Is the Application Free?
Yes. The Euroculture programme states that it does not charge an application fee.
You can apply directly through its official online application system.
You do not need an agent to submit the application, and paying a third party does not improve your scholarship ranking.
11. Important Dates for 2027
Applications opened: 15 October 2026
Scholarship application deadline: 15 January 2027
Expected scholarship results: End of March 2027
Programme intake: 2027–2029
The programme also accepts self-funded applications under separate deadlines, but those later deadlines do not extend the Erasmus Mundus scholarship application period.
